Many times, we have been encountered that it’s very hard to pronounce someone’s name correctly. Maybe, you had an experience when people do pronunciation of your name in wrong manner and how can we forget, correcting our name pronunciation to the customer care representatives on the phone or Cortana did the wrong pronunciation which are some of the examples. This happens due to various accents people have and the manner of speaking in different countries and regions. There’s an app ELSA which teaches English language based on pronunciation but learning a non-english name can be hard there.
So how to teach someone a perfect elocution of your name? Well, Facebook is trying to solve that problem. It’s not a new feature but an old feature but I have spotted it in my friend’s facebook profile just today which allows me to learn a proper pronunciation for the name! That’s right! I can read and listen to the pronunciation. To do the same for your name just go to your Facebook profile settings and create a pronunciation guide.
At first, it suggests you the prepopulate pronunciation and lets you write your own too. Optionally, It also lets you add an audio recording of your name to your profile so people can play the pronunciation guide to hear how to say your name. You can do this for your first and last name To add a
- Go to your profile and click About.
- Click Details About You in the left column below your profile photo.
- Click How do you pronounce your name? below Name Pronunciation.
- Select a suggested pronunciation of your first and last name, or write your own. Click
to the right of any pronunciation to make sure that it sounds the way you want it to.
- Click Save Changes.
Change will be Public and visible to Everyone and will be reflected on your profile in Intro section. This feature isn’t currently available in all locations so you may or may not see the option in your profile settings.
